How we make money
The short answer
No paid rankings. Pass or fail is never for sale. Where a provider passes our review, we may link to it with a disclosed affiliate link.
Today, we don't earn any money from this site. We have no affiliate partners, no ads and no sponsors right now. In future we may earn money from clearly disclosed affiliate links. They can't buy a better review result (pass or fail) or a higher spot in any list.
Our reviews cover insurance agents and brokers in the Register. Our insurer pages are reference profiles that link to official records; we don't review, grade or rank insurance companies.
Our independence
The Insurance Record is a free, independent directory published by The Record Network (PromptlessPress Technologies Inc.). We point you to official sources, like state insurance departments and the NAIC, so you can check things for yourself. Here's exactly how we plan to keep the lights on, and the rules we won't break.
Ways we may earn money
- Affiliate links, disclosed. If you click a link to a provider and buy something, we may earn a fee. We'll only ever link this way to providers that have passed our review, and we'll label those links on the page. We currently have no affiliate partners.
What money can't buy
- No paid placement in rankings. Nobody can pay to appear higher in any list, ranking or comparison. Ever.
- We only list providers that pass; we don't publicly name those that don't. Payment can't change that.
- No selling your information. We don't sell leads or pass your details to insurers or agents. See our privacy policy for what we collect.
Want your company reviewed?
Any provider can ask us to review them: request a check. There's no fee, and asking doesn't guarantee a PASS.
Important: we're not an insurance company or agent
We are not an insurance agency or broker. We don't sell insurance, give quotes or advise you on what coverage to buy. We are not a licensing authority. Our Register reports what we found in official records on the date checked; the state's own record is always the final word. To check a licence yourself, use your state's official lookup. The NAIC's list of state insurance departments links to each state's regulator, and NAIC's Consumer Insurance Search lets you look up companies.
FAQ
Do you get paid by insurers right now?
No. We have no affiliate partners, ads or sponsors today. If that changes, we'll update this page and label every paid link.
Can a company pay for a better review result (pass or fail) or ranking?
No. Paid placement in rankings is never allowed.
Why isn't a company I know listed in your reviews?
We only list providers that pass; we don't publicly name those that don't. A company can request a check for free.
Can you tell me if an agent is licensed?
No. Please check your state insurance department's official licence lookup. The NAIC's list of state insurance departments links to each one.
Can you get me a quote?
No. We don't sell insurance or give quotes.
