Texas: official insurance lookups

Short answer: Insurance in Texas is regulated by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). Use TDI's own tools to look up an insurance company, check an agent's or company's license record, see complaint data, and file a complaint. TDI's help line is 800-252-3439.[1] We link to those official records and don't confirm anyone's license ourselves.

Texas complaint data, explained

TDI publishes complaint data on the Texas Open Data Portal. Per TDI, its datasets include "Insurance complaints: All data", "Insurance complaints: One record / complaint", "Insurance complaint totals" and "Complaint indexes and policy counts for insurance companies". TDI says the last one "includes counts for confirmed complaints and policies in force by company name and line of coverage."[3] Open the complaint index dataset.
